Job Description:

Our Operations teams work where Uber's technology meets the real world. We are the local eyes on the ground, owning country-specific business outcomes and bridging our overall business strategy with local needs. The landscape of platform work is changing. While Uber Eats has traditionally operated via an independent contractor (IC) model, new business structures—ranging from subcontracting to third-party 'fleets' and staffing agencies—are becoming central to our strategy. Transitioning to these models fundamentally changes our business dynamics. When couriers are compensated hourly rather than per trip, operational efficiency becomes our primary lever for cost management. This requires robust scheduling and performance management systems. Conversely, these models unlock significant opportunities: we gain greater control over service quality, the ability to negotiate strict SLAs, and the power to mandate specific vehicle mixes. As a part of this brand-new central initiative, you will be the co-architect of our scheduling ecosystem. Your mission is to ensure we have 'the right person, in the right vehicle, at the right time'—minimizing expensive idle time while maximizing service reliability.

Job Responsibility:

  • The Forecasting Engine: Build, refine, and scale the frameworks for demand forecasting
  • Scheduling Muscle: Own the 'Gold Standard' for shift patterns
  • Real-Time Balancing: Develop the playbooks for marketplace intervention
  • Efficiency Analytics: Become our resident 'Utilization Rate' expert
  • Product Collaboration: Act as the primary feedback loop and sparring partner for Tech and Product teams
  • SLA Management: Define and monitor strict reliability KPIs for our fleet partners

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years of Experience: Background in operations, management consulting, or a high-growth tech environment
  • Mathematical Rigor: Advanced analytical skills
  • SQL proficiency is mandatory
  • Critical Thinking: A first-principles approach to solving complex, unstructured problems
  • Stakeholder Mastery: Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across operations, technical, and legal teams

Nice to have:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Prior experience working with fleets or staffing agency models
  • Hands-on Mentality: Eager to get into the field, visit partners, and listen to the people running ground operations
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Thrive in ambiguity and excited by the challenge of being a 'founding member' of a new business vertical
  • Agility: The ability to pivot quickly when data suggests a change in direction is needed
  • Communication: A knack for taking complex marketplace dynamics and simplifying them for non-technical audiences
