We are looking for a highly skilled and resourceful Sr Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Everett, Washington. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing and optimizing accounting processes while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a collaborative attitude, and innovative ideas to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Process vendor payments, cash receipts, billings, payroll, and other transactions related to assigned duties
Review invoices, reimbursement requests, travel vouchers, and payroll for accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures
Prepare and make bank deposits, ensuring proper handling of checks and related documentation
Enter accounting transactions into the system after verifying accuracy and completeness
Perform detailed reviews of transaction journals, control reports, and system outputs to ensure data integrity
Reconcile basic account balances and prepare financial reports as required
Respond to inquiries from staff and the public, adhering to relevant laws and organizational policies
Maintain organized records and reports in compliance with the State of Washington's retention guidelines
Provide administrative support to the Special Operations Policy Board, including invoicing, cost recovery, budget preparation, and attending board meetings
Offer suggestions for process improvements and contribute to creating department-specific standard operating procedures
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting roles, including journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Proficiency in payroll processing and familiarity with department-specific procedures
Strong technical skills, including experience with Springbrook and advanced Excel functions
Ability to analyze processes and recommend more efficient methods of operation
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to contribute ideas and work as part of a team
Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and seek solutions independently
Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with policies and regulations
