Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff to Sr. Accountant to join our team focused on the Mclean, Virginia, region. The selected consultant will be a part of RH Full Time Engagement Practice, focusing on a long-term contracts. This role involves managing complex construction and project accounting tasks, while ensuring accuracy in project reporting and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in cost accounting, general ledger, and proficiency in tools like Yardi or other similar ERP systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for supporting the accounting manager with construction and project accounting processes, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting
  • Perform detailed reconciliations of job-cost data and other financial records
  • Support month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and ensuring timely completion
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, addressing discrepancies as needed
  • Conduct account and bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy
  • Prepare and support financial reports for internal stakeholders
  • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions for data analysis and reporting
  • Leverage ERP systems, such as Yardi or similar platforms, to manage accounting operations effectively
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of detail-oriented accounting experience, with a focus on construction or project accounting
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of accounting experiences, with a focus on construction, development, and/or project accounting
  • Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and preparing journal entries
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger and account reconciliation practices
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Yardi, Northspyre, or similar platforms
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex reconciliations and cost accounting tasks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across departments
