Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Property Accountant to support a short-term Contract assignment in Charlotte, North Carolina within the real estate property and facilities management sector. This role will focus on operating expense and CAM reconciliation work across a select group of properties, requiring someone who can step in quickly and deliver accurate results with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate brings strong property accounting expertise, a hands-on approach to month-end activities, and the ability to manage detailed financial analysis in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead operating expense and common area maintenance reconciliation activities for multiple assigned properties
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule
  • Perform general ledger analysis and resolve discrepancies through detailed account reconciliation
  • Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to maintain reliable financial records
  • Support month-end close by organizing schedules, validating balances, and meeting reporting deadlines
  • Analyze property-level expense reporting to confirm charges are properly allocated and documented
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, clarify variances, and finalize reconciliation outputs
  • Use Microsoft Excel to manage large data sets, build reconciliation schedules, and produce clear supporting documentation

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including substantial background in property accounting
  • Demonstrated success handling CAM and operating expense reconciliations within a real estate environment
  • Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation
  • Experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and reconciliation management
  • Ability to work independently and contribute immediately in a short-term contract assignment
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills in deadline-driven settings
