We are looking for an experienced Sr. Property Accountant to support a short-term Contract assignment in Charlotte, North Carolina within the real estate property and facilities management sector. This role will focus on operating expense and CAM reconciliation work across a select group of properties, requiring someone who can step in quickly and deliver accurate results with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate brings strong property accounting expertise, a hands-on approach to month-end activities, and the ability to manage detailed financial analysis in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead operating expense and common area maintenance reconciliation activities for multiple assigned properties
Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule
Perform general ledger analysis and resolve discrepancies through detailed account reconciliation
Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to maintain reliable financial records
Support month-end close by organizing schedules, validating balances, and meeting reporting deadlines
Analyze property-level expense reporting to confirm charges are properly allocated and documented
Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, clarify variances, and finalize reconciliation outputs
Use Microsoft Excel to manage large data sets, build reconciliation schedules, and produce clear supporting documentation
Requirements:
7+ years of accounting experience, including substantial background in property accounting
Demonstrated success handling CAM and operating expense reconciliations within a real estate environment
Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation
Experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and reconciliation management
Ability to work independently and contribute immediately in a short-term contract assignment
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills in deadline-driven settings
