Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Property Accountant to support a multifamily real estate portfolio in Dallas, Texas on a contract basis. This short-term Contract position is ideal for an accounting specialist who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment and can manage property-level financial activities with accuracy and consistency. The role works closely with accounting and property operations partners to deliver reliable reporting, maintain strong controls, and support ongoing financial performance across the portfolio.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct the day-to-day accounting activities for a group of multifamily assets, ensuring records are complete, organized, and financially accurate
  • Handle end-to-end accounting functions, including accounts payable oversight, journal entry preparation, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close execution
  • Prepare timely financial statements and management reports for multiple properties, highlighting trends and variances as needed
  • Partner with property management teams to review operating results, answer financial questions, and provide insight that supports business decisions
  • Perform account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations while resolving discrepancies in accordance with company policy and industry practices
  • Support annual audit activities by assembling schedules, reconciling supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests
  • Contribute to ad hoc assignments and special projects related to property accounting, reporting improvements, and portfolio analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience focused on multifamily real estate or property accounting environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Required proficiency in Yardi, including property accounting and reporting functions
  • Familiarity with OneSite is beneficial
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results and identify issues quickly
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-moving setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and internal financial reporting processes
