We are looking for an experienced Sr. Project Accountant to join a growing team in California. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to lead projects that improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality. The position will play a key part in strengthening financial operations, supporting compliance, and partnering across departments to deliver well-managed accounting initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee project-based accounting activities from initial planning through completion, ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination stay on track
Prepare and review journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and complete detailed account reconciliations to support reliable financial reporting
Lead efforts to enhance accounting workflows by introducing process improvements, automation opportunities, and clearly documented standard operating procedures
Support financial systems administration and related initiatives, including platform integrations, implementation support, and data validation or cleanup efforts
Manage treasury-related tasks such as cash forecasting, bank reconciliations, fund transfers between accounts, and wire transaction processing
Contribute to internal control compliance by assisting with audit readiness, required documentation, and regulatory obligations such as escheatment and insurance-related support
Develop and maintain advanced Excel-based reports, analyze financial trends, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and reporting visibility
Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to coordinate third-party tools, maintain provider records, and assess service effectiveness
Collaborate with accounting and business teams to protect financial data integrity and ensure consistent execution across multiple concurrent projects
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience that includes ownership of project-driven initiatives
Strong background in general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and complex account reconciliation work
Practical experience with Sage Intacct, Sage 100, or comparable accounting platforms
Working knowledge of internal controls, audit support activities, and compliance-related accounting requirements
Experience handling treasury functions, including cash forecasting, bank reconciliations, and intercompany or interbank transactions
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create tailored reports, perform trend analysis, and support financial decision-making
Proven ability to manage several priorities at once while working effectively with cross-functional teams
