We are seeking a Sr. Product Engineer to join ATI's Monroe, NC facility to support nickel rolled and forged bar products. This role partners with sales, quality, and manufacturing teams to review customer specifications, support quoting, develop manufacturing documentation, and ensure product certification requirements are met. The position also drives continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, yield, and cost performance while providing technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
Job Responsibility
Review customer specifications and support sales teams by approving customer quotes
Create and implement items, recipes, mill instructions and other quality system documents for Ni rolled and forged bars products
Support certifications and testing of Ni rolled and forged bars orders and shipments
Utilize Continuous Improvement tools throughout the manufacturing process of Ni rolled and forged bars products, leading to increased yield, better quality, and reduced costs
Provide technical support to commercial teams during customer engagement for both on-site and off-site meetings
Communicate results to management, colleagues and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations
Requirements
BS. in Material Science Engineering or related discipline
1+ years of experience with wrought processing (i.e., conventional melting, press forging, radial forging, hot rolling, conditioning, heat treatment, etc.)
2+ years of process or product engineering experience or higher education related to Ni/Fe/Co-base super alloys, titanium and/or specialty steels preferred
Must be comfortable meeting with customers, presenting at technical meetings, and be willing to travel (2-4 times per year)
Must be enthusiastic, excited about tackling challenges, and comfortable with working in a continuous improvement environment
Statistical data analysis experience using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Strong technical background
Focus on metals, processing and structure/property relationships
Technical writing/oral presentation skills
Good interpersonal communication skills at all levels
Eager to become a technical expert & primary point of contact in area of responsibility
Comfortable being on the shop floor observing processes, providing guidance and interfacing with operators
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel in a clear, concise manner
Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as on a team
Uses scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining composure and meeting established deadlines
