Job Responsibility

The process engineer uses understanding of process fundamentals, process equipment, refinery practices, and specific technologies to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimal refinery operation while coordinating and influencing the achievement of these objectives utilizing data driven critical thinking
Trains, mentors and coaches less experienced process engineers (i.e., troubleshooting and optimization assistance for operations, process operations analysis, economic evaluation, etc.)
Provides troubleshooting and optimization assistance for operations on complex units
Conducts daily performance monitoring including mass balance, energy consumption, yields and process unit health performance indicators
Generates, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates performance indicators and unit operations data for assigned units
Evaluates catalyst usage and performance
Analyze and identify short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency
Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software
Evaluates equipment design and process development to compromise between process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness and environment/safety objectives
Presents basic sections of operator process training classes, approves process portions in Management of Change (MOC) development, perform process engineering duties in a process hazard analysis (PHAs) on simple units
