We are looking for an experienced Sr Payroll Specialist to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large employee population in Louisiana. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a service-focused approach to resolving complex pay issues. The role supports compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements while helping maintain efficient payroll processes and providing day-to-day guidance to less experienced team members.
Job Responsibility
Administer bi-weekly and monthly payroll cycles from start to finish, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule
Maintain payroll records, audit transactions, and review earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings for accuracy and compliance
Interpret and apply payroll laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions to support compliant payroll processing
Investigate escalated payroll discrepancies and resolve non-routine issues through detailed analysis and practical solutions
Serve as a subject matter resource for payroll questions, offering support and direction to entry-level payroll staff as needed
Partner with employees and internal stakeholders to address payroll concerns with responsiveness and clarity
Support ongoing improvements to payroll procedures and controls by identifying best practices and recommending process enhancements
Work within ADP Workforce Now and related payroll systems to manage payroll data efficiently for a workforce of 500 or more employees
Requirements
Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education, payroll experience, and relevant certifications
At least 7 years of hands-on experience managing payroll responsibilities in a high-volume environment
Demonstrated experience with full-cycle payroll processing, including bi-weekly and monthly payroll schedules
Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll requirements and federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Proven ability to use ADP Workforce Now effectively for payroll administration and reporting
Experience processing payroll for organizations with more than 500 employees
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues accurately
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse employee groups
