Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit. The patient population of Thornton 2 West Telemetry PCU includes General Medicine, General Surgery, Cystic Fibrosis, Epilepsy, Advanced Lung Disease, Bariatric Surgery.
Job Responsibility:

Requirements:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all disciplines of staff including nurses, technologist, physicians, advanced practice providers, and patients both verbally and in writing
Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges and collaborate on solutions with a patient-centered approach

Previous acute care experience
IMU or PCU experience
Medical Terminology Certificate
Experience with bariatric surgery patients, epilepsy monitoring, stroke, and/or cystic fibrosis patients
