We are seeking a skilled Interconnectivity Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Juction, MD.
Job Responsibility:
Serves as the Communications/Network Engineering Team Leader, including overall leadership responsibility for Communications/Networks Engineers.
Resolves complex network problems, operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment and network simulators.
Supports and provides site personnel training on network fundamentals and specific network hardware.
Performs network services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks.
Analyzes network characteristics (e.g. traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes and throughput), troubleshoots problems and recommends procurement of and/or modifications to network components.
Possess advanced written and verbal communications skills.
Serves as the single point of contact for all complex Networking requirements.
Assists other project members with analysis and evaluation and with the preparation of recommendations for system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts in the following specialties: information systems architecture
networking
telecommunications
automation
communications protocols.
Establishes system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems.
Designs architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for agency IT architectures, and profiles of standards as they apply to the implementation and specific to the solution for the platform, integration with other systems, and the external interfaces.
Responsible for understanding the needs of the customers and the realities of commercially available IT products and creating requirements that will allow implementation by the architecture and engineering team and COTS products.
Requirements:
Twelve (12) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity are required.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
IAT Level II baseline certification is required.
