An Oklahoma telecommunications company is looking for a hands-on Sr Network Engineer and Network Engineer on a full-time basis to support their day-to-day operations of data and transport networks in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills, multi-vendor network experience, and the ability to work across Layer 1, 2, and 3 technologies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable resolving customer-impacting issues quickly, supporting network provisioning, and contributing to ongoing network performance and reliability. Position could be located in the Oklahoma City or Lawton, Oklahoma areas on a hybrid basis. Company offers a competitive benefits package.
Job Responsibility
Manage the daily operation of data and transport networks across Layer 1, 2, and 3
Design, engineer, and provision network services including FTTH, Carrier Ethernet, and transport circuits
Troubleshoot network issues, identify risk areas, and drive timely resolution to minimize customer impact
Monitor and maintain network infrastructure and supporting systems
Assist Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams with provisioning and troubleshooting efforts
Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, procedures, change requests, and reporting
Create Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for implementation and maintenance activities
Analyze network performance, publish failure analysis, and recommend improvements
Develop tools and scripts for testing, configuration, auditing, and network monitoring
Evaluate and support implementation of new technologies and processes
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Requirements
3+ years of experience in network planning and engineering within carrier-class environments
3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and optimizing LAN, WAN, transport, and optical networks
Strong hands-on experience with TCP/IP, IPv4, and IPv6
Experience with routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD, VLANs, STP/RSTP, VRRP/HSRP, LACP, SNMP, and G.8032/ERPS
Working knowledge of Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) and EVPN-VXLAN
Experience with Carrier Ethernet / MEF services including E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, and E-Access
Optical and transport networking experience including DWDM/CWDM and packet-optical networks
Ability to perform Layer 1–3 testing, including RFC 2544 and Y.1564
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-changing environment
Experience working with multiple vendors and technologies
Strong documentation and process discipline
