Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

• Lead subsystem design and continual improvement of Myomo’s robotic exoskeletons, enabling users to regain arm and hand function
• Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks to transition early-stage concepts into manufacturable designs
• Interact with suppliers to obtain quotes and assess component manufacturability from a wide variety of sources, including CNC machining, sheet metal, textiles, and injection molding
• Collaborate with electrical & controls engineers to develop high-performance portable sensing and actuation systems
• Construct prototypes, critically evaluating performance using numerical and qualitative techniques
• Perform drafting, tolerancing, and DFM for low-mid volume manufacture
• Own mechanical and electromechanical subsystems from concept through production, balancing performance, cost, and reliability
• Mentor junior engineers as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• 5+ years’ experience work experience or master’s degree and 3+ years’ industry experience
• Experience with electromechanical product development and manufacturing
• In-depth knowledge of rapid-prototyping and volume manufacturing processes including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding
• Experience integrating actuation, sensing, control logic, and electronics in compact packages
• Excellent written/verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Comfortable in fast paced environment with ability to prioritize and adapt in a changing work environment
• Ability to meet deadline with specified time constraints, with flexibility to both work well independently and in a team environment

Experience with wearables, medical devices, robotics/controls, and design control a plus
