In this role, you will be responsible for factory startup, transfer, qualification, and sustaining manufacturing processes for Microsoft Surface and XBOX devices. You will solve complex manufacturing challenges that impact product quality, cost, and delivery, and partner closely with Mechanical, Quality, Test Engineering, and manufacturing partners to enable successful product launches and sustained performance through end of life.
Job Responsibility:
Ability to work independently, directing and setting priorities for manufacturing partners to solve complex design, manufacturing and material challenges
Drive cost reduction and yield improvement initiatives
Partner early with NPI teams to identify design, process, and tools that are new, unique, or difficult and resolve manufacturing challenges by following DFx best practices and principles while staying current and versed in emerging technologies, materials, methods and manufacturing processes
Work closely with manufacturing partners to develop new or improved assembly fixtures and automation systems to enhance product quality and production efficiency
Communicate clearly with peers and leadership by distilling complex technical issues, outlining options, and presenting data‑backed recommendations
Perform regular process audits to ensure factory executes based on defined specifications and procedures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify manufacturing process risks and challenges and provide technical solutions to resolve and mitigate while meeting schedule, cost, and performance-related objectives
Generate best practices guidelines and documentation that improve future product development and sustaining efforts
Requirements:
Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment /repair
OR Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment/repair
OR 7+ years of equivalent experience
Experience with mechanical or enclosure manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of SPC, MSA/GRR, root cause analysis, FMEA, DOE, and reliability testing
Experience using statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab)
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to use manufacturing and field data to drive quality improvements
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Nice to have:
Mandarin and Vietnamese will be a plus
Proficiency with 3D design tools and other CAD suites such as Pro-E/Creo or SolidWorks
Patent or track record of engineering excellence
Design for Manufacturability, Failure/Data Analysis, Design of Experiments and statistical analysis using Six Sigma principles
NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing operations experience
Experience with high accuracy automation system development and qualification
