Job Description

Reporting directly to the Factory Director, the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Excellence (ManEx) and Logistics, you will drive our Raeford site to meet 'Best in Industry' standards. The Raeford, NC personal care factory is home of the Unilever Deodorant's Center of Excellence. This position will play a critical role in owning and driving continuous improvement culture in the site focusing on Safety, Quality, Output and Costs transformation through Unilever Manufacturing Standards and lead our logistics operation. Working with the factory director, leadership team, & a team of manufacturing engineers and trainers, you will lead the Golden Triangle to launch continuous improvement projects across the factory aligned with the Master Plan. This position will lead the deployment planning and inventory allocation to meet service targets and optimize stock positioning. Ensure execution of DRP processes, resolve stock issues, and manage shipment/receipt accuracy. Serve as the primary interface across Warehousing, Transportation, Planning, Customer Support, and Finance. Deliver KPI reporting, analytics, and performance insights to drive decision-making.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead & foster a strong continuous improvement culture, this will include training and mentoring employees at all levels of the organization in the use of lean manufacturing and process improvement tools
  • This person will lead and transform our factory digital initiatives and real-time data analytics to ensure we are working on the right projects while driving improvement in safety, quality, cost, performance, waste, and any number of key metrics
  • You will lead our site Logistics team and on-time deployment supporting 95%+ dispatch rate for NA DEO sticks
  • Embrace new technology to create a safe, fast-paced, and competitive logistics operation with an emphasis on engagement and servant leadership
  • Develop and conduct specific training in process improvement tools such as 5W2H, 5-Why, Kaizen methodology, Statistical Process Controls, and other similar topics
  • Responsible for tracking the Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) activities that occur throughout the facility and reporting our progress against these planned activities
  • Drive our UMS culture by chairing the Focused Improvement (FI) Pillar
  • Build and lead a high-performing logistics team (5–8 direct reports and hourly team), including coaching, training, and development
  • Active member of the Central Safety Health Environmental Committee (CSHEC), specific ownership of several site safety programs
  • Drive Perfect Quality throughout all Pack Processes and assist Make processes as required
  • Achieve desired production costs, including fixed and variable labor costs, Operating Plan Efficiency (OPE), waste, attainment and business waste and take ownership of VIP (Very Important Project) ideas year-over-year (YOY)
  • Build and develop AGILE work systems that engage, empower, and motivate both full time and contingent employees towards highly autonomous work culture
  • Manage a complex product portfolio for optimal run strategy and influence future fit portfolio transformation
  • Shape, influence and help execute site digital roadmap as aligned with masterplan in close partnership with Engineering & Operations team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 6-10+ years of continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) with some logistics experience
  • Fully understand and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), preferably in a personal care or FMCG/CPG environment
  • Proven record of ability to drive a transformation in a large cross-functional environment
  • Strong history of change management and driving business results in manufacturing environment
  • Successful experience leading teams in a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) type of, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or other Lean Manufacturing framework is required
  • Experience managing and driving accountability of Safety/OSHA/EPA requirements and pertinent safety regulations
  • Manage and hold team accountable to Quality standards and be a Champion for Change Management
  • Must be able to effectively manage conflict while creating an inclusive work environment
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, concepts and regulations is required
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills are required
