ALSO is seeking a leader of Payroll, Travel & Expense to own the day to day administration of payroll and lead our travel and expense program. You’ll build and scale these functions as we expand domestically and internationally, working closely with Finance and People teams to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance. This is a chance to shape and grow the Payroll function from the ground up.
Job Responsibility:
Establish, grow, and manage and global payroll operations, including U.S. and international exempt and non-exempt employees, as well as contractors, for a rapidly growing employee base of 200+
Lead the transition to bring US payroll processing in house by mid-2026 by leveraging the Rippling platform
Serve as the HRIS system administrator for payroll, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ongoing optimization
Develop the strategy and roadmap for transitioning international payroll from third-party administrators to in-house processing over time and as we scale
Administer the company’s T&E (travel and expense) program, including platform oversight, issuing P-cards and travel cards, and reviewing expenses for policy compliance
Partner closely with the People and Accounting teams to align payroll operations with organizational goals and financial reporting requirements
Drive continuous improvement in payroll operations by implementing automation, scalable processes, and strong internal controls while ensuring regulatory compliance
Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll matters, providing timely, accurate, and clear responses
Own payroll audits, payroll tax reporting, and other ad hoc compliance requirements
Support Legal and People teams with stock administration matters as needed
Maintain organized and complete payroll files and supporting documentation
Requirements:
8+ years of US Payroll experience in a multi-state environment including at least 2 years in a management or leadership role
Deep expertise in payroll regulations, U.S. payroll tax requirements, and broader payroll compliance matters
Familiarity with international payroll administration and related compliance considerations
Experience with Navan or other travel and expense management systems and with T&E program administration
Proven ability to manage and collaborate with third-party service providers as well as internal cross-functional partners
Working knowledge of benefits processing and administration
Must possess adequate knowledge of payroll accounting entries and ERP systems
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work, manage deadlines, and deliver accurate payrolls consistently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience with Rippling highly preferred
NetSuite experience a plus
