Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst supports hospital financial operations with a strong focus on productivity reporting, revenue cycle analytics, and financial planning. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining critical daily, biweekly, and monthly reports, supporting executive decision-making, and partnering with Accounting and Revenue Cycle teams to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and distribute daily productivity reports to monitor operational performance across departments
  • Produce and analyze biweekly productivity reports, highlighting trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Generate daily D&FP (Discharges & Financial Performance) reports to support leadership visibility
  • Develop and compile the monthly Board package, including financial summaries, key metrics, and variance analysis
  • Perform waterfall analysis to explain financial and volume variances across reporting periods
  • Prepare post-close departmental expense analyses, identifying variances against budget and prior periods
  • Produce and maintain the daily cash report, ensuring accurate tracking of inflows, outflows, and liquidity
  • Build and maintain dashboards, including the Admitting Dashboard, to support front-end operations and throughput metrics
  • Partner closely with the Revenue Cycle team to support ongoing financial and operational initiatives
  • Assist with Revenue Cycle reporting, including interpreting, validating, and enhancing existing reports
  • Analyze and manipulate data structures to improve reporting accuracy and usability
  • Leverage prior Revenue Cycle experience to identify optimization opportunities and improve financial outcomes
  • Provide contract labor reporting and analysis support to the Accounting team
  • Ensure alignment of financial data between operational reports and the general ledger

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (required)
  • 5+ years of financial analysis experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or partnering with Revenue Cycle functions
  • Experience with healthcare financial systems, including: Paragon (preferred)
  • Strata (preferred)
  • Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities
  • SQL skills (preferred)
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools (preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and operational data
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and deadlines
  • Effective communication skills with both finance and operational teams
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
