We’re partnering with a well established manufacturing leader in Cornwall, Ontario, to recruit a driven and technically-sound Senior Financial Analyst. This is a pivotal role for a finance professional who excels at bridging the gap between shop-floor operations and executive-level strategy. Reporting to the Accounting Director, the Senior Financial Analyst will serve as a key steward of financial integrity, leading complex reporting and cost analysis in a high-growth, hands-on environment. This position is designed for an analytical "detective" who wants to influence operational efficiency and the long-term financial roadmap.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, notes, and supporting schedules in compliance with ASPE
Perform variance analysis, rate of return calculations, and profitability studies to support executive decision-making
Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting through detailed reporting and analysis
Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and complex account reconciliations
Maintain comprehensive working papers and close schedules to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Serve as a subject matter expert for financial system upgrades, conducting testing, validating data, and documenting new processes
Recommend and implement improvements to system-generated reports to meet evolving data requirements
Drive operational excellence by drafting and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and "desk guides"
Participate in divisional initiatives and special projects, ensuring deliverables meet established timelines
Provide functional guidance, advice, and training to junior Financial Analysts
Ensure corporate document filing meets prescribed standards and assist the Director of Accounting with ad-hoc requests
Requirements:
CPA designation or actively pursuing (Senior CPA candidate) is required
5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, with a heavy emphasis on manufacturing and cost accounting
Comprehensive knowledge of ASPE, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis
Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., AS400, Microsoft 365 Business Central) and Advanced Excel (data modeling, Power Query, complex formulas)
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance partners
