We are looking for an experienced Sr. Data Entry Clerk to support membership operations for a government organization in Oakland, California. This Long-term Contract position will lead day-to-day data integrity efforts, guide a small team, and help ensure membership and payment records are handled accurately and efficiently. The role combines hands-on review work with staff oversight, policy interpretation, and cross-functional coordination to resolve issues and improve operational consistency.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and support a team of five membership specialists, providing daily direction, feedback, and coverage for operational questions
Review membership records and data entry activity to maintain high accuracy standards and consistent processing practices
Oversee dues payment handling and examine reconciliation results to identify discrepancies or processing concerns
Conduct audits and quality checks across membership updates, payment activity, and related recordkeeping tasks
Interpret membership rules and eligibility guidelines, serving as a point of reference for policy-related questions
Coach employees through performance expectations, routine challenges, and corrective discussions when needed
Assist newer team members with onboarding support while continuing to guide experienced staff on complex cases
Handle escalated member concerns, communicate directly with individuals on unresolved matters, and work toward effective resolution
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on database issues, system troubleshooting, reporting needs, and process improvements, including work related to organizational system changes
Requirements:
Previous experience supervising staff in an administrative, membership, or data-focused environment is required
Demonstrated ability to coach employees and address performance management matters professionally and effectively
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including strong working knowledge of pivot tables and conditional formatting
Experience performing audits, reconciliations, quality reviews, and detailed record validation is required
Strong attention to detail, especially when working with financial information and high-volume data entry
Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria accurately and apply them consistently
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work directly with members and varied stakeholders
Experience with UnionWare is preferred
