We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join a growing team in New Orleans, Louisiana in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position plays a central role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, supporting project-based cost tracking, and providing insight into budgets, cash flow, and overall business performance. The role is primarily in person with a hybrid schedule option, requiring regular on-site presence multiple days each week in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Job Responsibility
Direct day-to-day accounting activities across payables, receivables, and general ledger functions to support reliable financial operations
Lead project financial tracking by managing job cost records, billing activity, and supporting schedules tied to revenue and contract performance
Complete recurring reconciliations for bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts, including operating, payroll, and project-related accounts
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and evaluate results to identify trends, issues, and areas requiring follow-up
Build, update, and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections while reviewing variances against actual performance
Maintain cost and budget data within NetSuite and ensure financial information remains current, organized, and decision-ready
Record payroll-related journal entries for compensation, taxes, and benefits accruals with a high level of accuracy
Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax obligations and support timely filings and documentation
Provide guidance to accounting team members through training, oversight, and ongoing performance support
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
Demonstrated experience in cost accounting within manufacturing, fabrication, or other project-driven environments
Strong understanding of job costing, standard costing, cost analysis, and revenue recognition principles
Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and variance review
Proficiency with financial systems such as NetSuite and advanced spreadsheet skills for analysis and reporting
Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
High attention to detail and strong analytical judgment for resolving financial discrepancies and improving reporting accuracy
