This attorney, working in the Legal Affairs Department, will lead employment-law advice for T-Mobile's growing international operations, including advising on international employment structures, drafting employment contracts and other policies, advising on personnel issues and terminations, and supporting new-country expansions. The role will regularly interact with senior executives in T-Mobile's HR and business lines and will coordinate with other members of the legal department to develop integrated advice.
Job Responsibility
Advise HR and business clients on international employment structures, expansion plans, and international integrations
Oversee international employment pre-litigation and litigation disputes
Develop streamlined international employment law policies, practices, and strategies to minimize legal risks
Draft and review employment agreements for international hires, independent contractors, and consultants
Support compliance with visa, immigration, and work authorization requirements outside the US
Advise on international employee transitions, retention strategies, and integration post-acquisition
Deliver training to HR and business units regarding international employment laws and international employment norms
Coordinate with other members of the legal team on overlapping areas, such as the Code of Business conduct and background checks
Direct more junior employment team members working on lower-level international employment work, such as day-to-day international counseling and investigations
Requirements
7+ years of experience as an employment attorney, with relevant in-house and/or top law firm experience
7+ years of experience handling international employment law issues
Ability to work independently and effectively despite ambiguity and rapid change
Excellent writing skills, with a focus on providing practical advice
Awesome oral communication skills, with a focus on clearly and simply conveying complex employment law concepts, risks, and options to HR and other internal clients
Strong judgement that allows you to properly weigh what's best for our customers and our business, what's best for our employees, and potential legal risks
Strong project management skills
A demonstrated ability to collaborate with other legal and business professionals in a complex organization with a focus on delivering results efficiently
A keen business sense with strong judgment, negotiation, drafting, and decision-making skills
Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and balance multiple, and sometimes competing, priorities
Must be licensed, in good standing, to practice law in the US
