We are looking for an experienced Sr. Controller to join our team in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and thrives in both strategic and operational capacities, overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls. As this is a long-term contract position, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency within a dynamic environment.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee the company's accounting operations, including financial reporting, internal controls, and treasury functions
Ensure compliance with U.S. accounting standards and regulatory requirements, particularly in investment management and valuation processes
Collaborate closely with investment teams and other stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate financial information
Lead audits and reviews, ensuring thorough preparation and seamless execution
Develop and implement efficient accounting processes to support organizational growth
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team environment
Oversee fund accounting activities and handle complex investment structures with precision
Utilize tools such as NetSuite and Microsoft Excel to streamline financial operations
Provide strategic insights to senior executives, contributing to long-term financial planning
Ensure accurate fair value assessments and investment company accounting practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA required
At least 15 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with significant exposure to investment management, private equity, real estate, and asset management
Strong expertise in U.S. accounting standards and fair value/investment company accounting principles
Proven ability to build and lead accounting teams while managing audits in fast-paced environments
Proficiency in fund accounting and handling complex investment structures
Advanced skills in tools such as NetSuite and Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with investment, legal, and executive teams
Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on operational tasks with strategic responsibilities
