Job Description

The HPE Networking Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) serves as a trusted technical advisor and pre‑sales expert, translating complex customer business requirements into well‑architected, scalable networking solutions. The role focuses on designing, demonstrating, and validating HPE Networking solutions, while supporting sales teams throughout deal pursuits, including RFP responses, proof‑of‑concepts, and technical presentations. The CSE provides technical leadership and hands‑on expertise in the creation and delivery of solutions tailored to meet customer business needs. This includes building and maintaining strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and long‑term success. In deal‑critical situations, the CSE delivers the highest level of product and technology expertise within the sales organization. As a subject matter expert in their area of specialization (such as Mobility, Security, Branch Networking, or related domains), the Consulting Systems Engineer leads end‑to‑end technical consulting, advising customers on solution architectures that align with both technical requirements and strategic business outcomes. This role is customer‑facing and sales‑oriented, with the majority of engagement occurring outside HPE offices, supporting active customer environments and partner collaboration.

Job Responsibility

  • Demonstrate expert‑level competitive knowledge of HPE Networking solutions, technologies, and product offerings
  • Deliver advanced technical presentations to customers, partners, and prospective clients
  • Actively promote and embed the HPE Networking Systems Engineering (SE) culture across your assigned territory
  • Conduct technical interviews and assessments in support of SE recruitment and hiring, partnering with the Systems Engineering Manager (SEM) and Operations Director
  • Provide meaningful input to annual SE focal reviews and related performance‑management activities
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), delivering training to support new‑hire onboarding and mentoring junior SEs within the territory
  • Collaborate closely with Partner Account Managers (PAMs), SEMs, and SEs to execute partner and distributor enablement programs
  • Manage and engage vendor partners to support pipeline growth and demand‑generation initiatives
  • Participate actively in recurring Worldwide (WW) CSE meetings and regular CSE team calls with the SE Director
  • Be willing and able to travel as required to meet customer and business needs

Requirements

  • Typically 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years with a Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 8 years of infrastructure engineering experience, including 4+ years of successful pre‑sales support
  • Extensive experience designing, engineering, and consulting on LAN/WAN, Campus and Branch Networks, Data Center, Security, and Cloud solutions
  • Recognized technical aptitude with the ability to rapidly learn and apply new protocols and technologies in customer environments
  • Expert‑level communication, presentation, organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to design and manage solutions for complex technical challenges using the full HPE Networking portfolio
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior‑level internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven capability to mentor and develop junior Systems Engineers
