The Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Specialist independently performs a wide range of duties within their area of specialty. Responsibilities include developing and modifying test procedures, conducting technical review and monitoring of existing procedures, and coordinating quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities. The role may include identifying staff training needs, evaluating competency of testing personnel, and serving as a technical consultant and resource for laboratory staff, the medical enterprise, and the community. Work assignments are made by the Manager, Supervisor, and/or Faculty on a daily or project basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Graduation from college with a major in an appropriate scientific field
possession of a clinical Laboratory Scientist’s license or a similar license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health
four years of experience as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist within the designated subspecialty
or an equivalent combination of education and experience
knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or appropriate subspecialty license issued by the California Department of Public Health
excellent verbal and written communication skills
able to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences
