Job Description:

The Road Safety team seeks to make rare events even rare and make Uber safer for all users. Using telematics and other information, we work closely with our partners to understand, predict and mitigate road safety issues.

Job Responsibility:

  • You will own the driver pillar of our road safety risk eco-system
  • You will design and develop models to understand and predict risk and design experiments to test the effectiveness of evaluations
  • Working with Product, Ops, and partner teams in marketplace to deliver a safer experience for everyone who uses Uber

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience (or equivalent)
  • Strong ML skills with both GLMs as well as modern methods like xgboost and deep learning
  • Experience working with large scale data
  • Experience designing and executing large scale experiments
  • Familiar with methods for experimentation beyond traditional A/B Testing

Nice to have:

  • Experience with working with sensor data like IMU for event detection and activity recognition
  • Experience in risk modeling
  • Understanding of actuarial methodologies
