Job Description:

The Sr Tax Analyst prepares and maintains tax records, returns, reports and other related materials while analyzing and researching tax law. This position requires preparing and reviewing complex transaction tax returns, maintaining accurate tax liabilities and payments, and undertaking special projects related to indirect tax calculation. Employees also assist in developing best practices related to tax compliance, including SOX requirements. The role involves analyzing complex multi-state tax issues and communicating well-documented recommendations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepares complex transaction tax returns, related payments, work papers, and documentation, such as telecommunications taxes, state USF returns, gross receipt taxes
  • Reviews transaction tax returns, related payments, work papers and documentation prepared by other Analysts or outsourced tax return provider
  • Assists in running tax compliance reports and formatting data used in the preparation of tax returns
  • Identifies issues, applies independent judgment, and provides insights through clear, concise review notes
  • Maintains and reconciles journal entries for accurate recording of tax liabilities and payments
  • Undertakes recurring and special projects that may impact or require the calculation of indirect taxes (sales, use and gross receipts tax, etc.)
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of best practices and procedures for the tax compliance function, including related SOX 404 requirements
  • Analyzes and researches complex multi-state tax issues, develops thoroughly documented technical analysis and work papers and effectively communicates conclusions and recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting or related field
  • 4-7 years Progressive tax experience in a multi-state environment with emphasis on transaction tax compliance, research and planning
