Sr Administrators, Database is located in Atlanta, GA and will apply deep understanding of Datastax Enterprise Cassandra architecture and internal frameworks to architect scalable distributed and geo-redundant Cassandra database solutions to handle millions of transactions per hour.
Job Responsibility:
Install, configure, apply patches and upgrade binaries of Datastax Enterprise Cassandra database software on Linux Servers
Configure backup, restore and monitor the backup jobs using Cohesity tool
Apply experience in configuring and using Datastax Opscenter, Prometheus, Grafana tools to setup effective monitoring for alerts, cluster availability, performance and capacity analysis and take preventive actions based on alerts
Configure and tune the Database and Operating system environment for optimal performance and resource utilization and guide developers on optimal schema designs for better performance and scalability
Administer Datastax Enterprise Cassandra clusters in support of T-Mobile business including adding/bootstrapping/removing nodes, consistency tuning, replication and multi-DC configuration
Enforce enterprise security policies and procedures on databases by creating key spaces, users and managing the user connections, passwords
Apply advanced knowledge of various troubleshooting and tuning tasks, including Latency Analysis, Thread state Analysis, cassandra.yaml parameter changes, JVM tuning, compaction and repair with emphasis on issue resolution under 90 minutes
Apply advanced knowledge of shell scripting, including command line applications, and batch files to write and maintain shell and CQL scripts in support of database operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience OR Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience
Database administration with Datastax Enterprise Cassandra which includes DSE components (DSE Core, Search, Analytics/Spark, Graph), Security Management(LDAP, SSL/TLS, Role Based Access(RBAC), audit logging, encryption at rest/in transit), Backup and disaster recovery, planning and testing Datacenter failover procedures. Analyzing logs and metrics for root cause analysis of latency, timeouts, and node failures. Rolling upgrades, patch management, and minimizing downtime in Production
Design, configure and manage highly available, scalable and fault-tolerant Datastax Enterprise Cassandra clusters on on-prem and AWS EC2 instances using Ansible, Terraform and AWS Cloud Formation
Writing and optimizing CQL scripts, including UDF's(User-Defined functions), Materialized Views and Schema changes ensuring better performance and availability using CQLSH, DataStax Studio, DBeaver, Liquibase
Automating administrative and operational tasks using Linux/Unix Shell, Python, Ansible scripts. Enabling streamlined system management, configuration, and deployment processes across distributed environments
Advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting of Datastax Enterprise Cassandra clusters including JVM tuning, GC tuning, thread management and disk I/O optimization using nodetool, JConsole and DSE Metrics Collector
Monitoring and visualizing database performance, replication health, and cluster metrics using tools Prometheus, Grafana, DataStax OpsCenter
Deploying and managing Datastax Enterprise Search (SOLR integration) for implementing full-text search capabilities on NoSQL datasets, including configuring schema.xml, solrconfig.xml, and managing SOLR cores for optimized indexing and querying
