We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate financial reporting, compliance with industry standards, and effective account management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger accounting and be committed to maintaining high levels of accuracy and detail in all financial processes.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee general ledger activities, including the preparation and review of adjusting entries
Perform account reconciliations for cash, balance sheets, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual documentation
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, such as GASB and U.S. Standard General Ledger requirements
Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and resolving audit inquiries
Conduct detailed financial analyses to identify trends and anomalies, offering insights to improve financial decision-making
Collaborate with team members to streamline financial operations and enhance reporting efficiency
Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and present financial data effectively
Review month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate completion
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial reporting standards and apply them to daily operations
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
Expertise in general ledger management and month-end close processes
Proficiency in account reconciliation, including cash and balance sheet accounts
Strong knowledge of GASB and financial reporting standards
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Ability to prepare and analyze journal entries and adjusting entries
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities to effectively convey financial information
