We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations for a large U.S. business in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings strong ownership to financial close, reconciliations, and reporting activities. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with accounting and finance partners while helping maintain accurate and timely financial records.
Job Responsibility:
Lead key activities tied to the monthly close cycle, helping ensure deadlines are met and financial data is complete
Create and evaluate journal entries, including items related to accruals and prepaid expenses, with a high level of accuracy
Reconcile bank activity and balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding items promptly
Oversee fixed asset accounting by tracking schedules, updates, and related supporting documentation
Maintain the general ledger and contribute to the preparation of internal financial reporting deliverables
Partner with cross-functional finance and accounting teams to address issues, share updates, and support ongoing operations
Contribute to special projects and workflow enhancements designed to strengthen accounting processes and efficiency
Monitor accounting records for accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across assigned areas of responsibility
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
At least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a mid-sized or large corporate environment
Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger accounting
Hands-on experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets
Familiarity with Workday is strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze financial data effectively
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently while staying organized and detail-focused
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with finance and accounting stakeholders
