We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join our team in Tonawanda, New York. This role supports core accounting operations by helping maintain accurate financial records, contributing to forecasting activities, and assisting with period-end reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to financial accuracy, internal controls, and confidentiality.
Job Responsibility
Track and review cash flow activity to help ensure timely and accurate reporting across the business unit
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts by preparing supporting analysis and identifying key financial trends
Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing reconciliations and helping maintain accurate accounting records
Prepare daily and weekly journal entries and verify that transactions are recorded properly in the general ledger
Support the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports, highlighting variances and notable performance drivers
Help uphold strong accounting standards, internal policies, and site-level compliance expectations in day-to-day work
Maintain and refine internal control documentation, including narratives and related support materials, to strengthen risk awareness and asset protection
Provide timely support during the annual audit by organizing requested schedules, documentation, and other financial information
Analyze financial results to identify discrepancies, uncover improvement opportunities, and resolve issues with urgency and accuracy
Requirements
3+ years of accounting experience in a role involving general ledger activity and financial reporting
Hands-on experience with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations and the ability to investigate and resolve variances
Solid understanding of internal controls, confidentiality standards, and sound accounting practices
Ability to interpret financial data, recognize trends, and communicate findings clearly
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple priorities
Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for analysis, reporting, and documentation
