We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Austin, Texas. This role requires an individual with a strong foundation in accounting principles and technical expertise to oversee critical financial processes, including month-end close and reporting for a publicly traded company. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and proficiency in advanced accounting systems and tools.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and manage the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Review and monitor daily accounting operations to maintain compliance with established standards and procedures
Handle ad hoc projects and tasks assigned by management, delivering results efficiently and effectively
Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements
Utilize advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and handling large data sets, to support financial analyses
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of accounting processes within proprietary or enterprise systems
Maintain and apply knowledge of US GAAP to ensure accurate and compliant accounting practices
Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements within the accounting function
Support reporting requirements for a publicly traded company, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting financial information clearly and concisely
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
Proven experience in public accounting and technical accounting principles
Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and producing accurate financial reports
Familiarity with proprietary accounting systems or enterprise-level software
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and its application in financial reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and large data analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels
Previous experience working with publicly traded companies is highly desirable
