Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Rochester, New York in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage core close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support day-to-day general ledger operations. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment while helping ensure timely and reliable financial reporting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead key activities related to the monthly close process to support accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and alignment to accounting standards
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing account activity and resolving discrepancies
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and follow through on outstanding items to completion
  • Complete bank reconciliations regularly to verify cash activity and investigate variances
  • Analyze financial data and account balances to identify errors, trends, and areas requiring correction
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for accounting entries and close deliverables

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or progressively responsible role
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation
  • Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
  • Background in completing bank reconciliations and researching reconciling items
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple priorities effectively
