We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Rochester, New York in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage core close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support day-to-day general ledger operations. Job Responsibility:
Lead key activities related to the monthly close process to support accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and alignment to accounting standards
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing account activity and resolving discrepancies
Perform detailed account reconciliations and follow through on outstanding items to completion
Complete bank reconciliations regularly to verify cash activity and investigate variances
Analyze financial data and account balances to identify errors, trends, and areas requiring correction
Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for accounting entries and close deliverables
Requirements:
At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or progressively responsible role
Demonstrated experience managing month-end close responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment
Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation
Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
Background in completing bank reconciliations and researching reconciling items
Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple priorities effectively
