Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a growing organization in Worcester, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the close process, and preparing reliable reporting for business stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound judgment, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure timely completion of reporting deadlines
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate posting, analysis, and follow-up on unusual balances or discrepancies
  • Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and resolve outstanding items with appropriate documentation
  • Complete bank reconciliations on a recurring basis and investigate variances to support accurate cash reporting
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review, ensuring information is organized and dependable
  • Assist with special accounting assignments and ad hoc projects that support departmental and organizational needs
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information, clarify account activity, and improve reporting accuracy

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Senior Accountant or similar accounting role
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience completing bank reconciliations and researching discrepancies independently
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting principles and supporting documentation requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Effective organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
