In this role, you will play a key part in supporting a non-profit organization through year-end close and audit preparation. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with executive management and external auditors while refining processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Perform detailed account reconciliations, including payroll liabilities and cash across multiple bank accounts
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll, accounts payable, and operational transactions, thoroughly documenting restricted fund activities
Prepare schedules and reconciliations for both management and auditors while ensuring compliance with deadlines
Respond to audit requests and support external auditors with necessary documentation and analysis
Assess current financial processes, recommending and implementing improvements to align with industry best practices
Analyze year-over-year account fluctuations and address issues related to restricted net assets
Assist with various ad hoc accounting tasks required to ensure audit success
Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen financial operations and reporting accuracy
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in general ledger management, reconciliations, and audit support
Previous experience in the non-profit sector, particularly with restricted funds, is highly desirable
Skilled in identifying and resolving account variances while documenting and improving processes
Proven ability to work effectively with external auditors and meet audit-related deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as D365 or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and fund accounting for non-profit organizations
Nice to have:
Previous experience in the non-profit sector, particularly with restricted funds, is highly desirable
