Job Description

Robert Half is currently recruiting for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a manufacturing environment in Duffield, Virginia. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and delivering meaningful analysis that supports business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, manufacturing cost expertise, and the ability to work effectively with financial systems and operational data.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead monthly close activities by preparing and reviewing accounting entries, reconciling balances, and ensuring timely completion of financial reporting tasks
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate recording of transactions and thorough review of account activity
  • Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies promptly, and support a strong internal control environment
  • Manage cost accounting processes for manufacturing operations, including standard costing, product cost reviews, and analysis of production-related expenses
  • Evaluate material, labor, and overhead variances and provide financial insights to help improve operational performance
  • Support fixed asset and lease accounting by tracking transactions, maintaining schedules, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to review bill of materials data and help ensure costing information is complete and reliable
  • Use financial systems, including D365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, to analyze data, support reporting, and improve accounting accuracy
  • Prepare financial analysis and Excel-based reporting that helps leadership understand trends, risks, and key business drivers

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with exposure to senior-level responsibilities in a manufacturing setting preferred
  • Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and bank reconciliation processes
  • Proficiency with D365 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to interpret financial data, identify inconsistencies, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
  • Familiarity with bill of materials structures and their impact on inventory and product costing
  • University degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
