The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department within a financial services environment. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the development of efficient accounting processes.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and internal policies
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation
Help to develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including performance evaluations and training
Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, compliance, and operations teams
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Monitor and improve accounting systems and workflows for efficiency and accuracy
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, (CPA or MBA preferred)
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle)
Proven leadership and team management experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have:
Experience with regulatory reporting (e.g., SEC, FINRA, or banking regulations)
Familiarity with investment accounting, asset management, or banking operations
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
