Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a non-automotive client and help maintain accurate financial reporting. This role is well suited for an organized accountant who can manage close activities, reconcile key accounts, and ensure the integrity of general ledger data. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to resolving discrepancies across daily and month-end accounting processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring financial records are finalized on time
  • Maintain the general ledger by recording and validating financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy
  • Prepare and post journal entries while supporting proper documentation and compliance with accounting standards
  • Perform account reconciliations regularly to identify variances, investigate issues, and correct discrepancies
  • Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity to internal records and resolving outstanding items promptly
  • Support project accounting tasks by tracking costs, reviewing allocations, and helping ensure accurate financial treatment of project activity
  • Monitor job cost data and analyze spending against budgets to improve visibility into project performance
  • Review work-in-progress balances and help maintain accurate reporting for open and ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including significant responsibility for month-end close activities
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement support
  • Proven experience preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation
  • Hands-on background in account reconciliation and resolving variances efficiently
  • Experience completing bank reconciliations in a high-volume or fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of project accounting, job cost tracking, and work-in-progress reporting
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
