Robert Half is partnering with a respected nonprofit organization seeking a Sr. Accountant, Grants to join its finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this position will oversee grant accounting, compliance, reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis for a portfolio of government and privately funded programs. Job Responsibility:
Manage accounting for multiple grants and contracts including revenue recognition, allocations, and budget tracking
Prepare financial reports, invoices, reimbursement requests, and grant drawdowns
Monitor grant spending and provide budget variance analysis and forecasting
Ensure compliance with grant agreements, nonprofit accounting standards, and applicable regulations
Assist with grant setup, renewals, amendments, and closeouts
Reconcile grant-related accounts and maintain audit-ready documentation
Support annual audits, single audit requests, and year-end close activities
Partner with program leadership regarding grant financial management
Assist with proposal budgets and special projects
Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of grant accounting experience within nonprofit, healthcare, government, or human services environments
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and grant compliance requirements
Advanced Excel and accounting system experience required
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have:
Behavioral health, healthcare, or social services industry experience
Experience supporting single audits or federally funded programs
Multi-program or multi-entity accounting experience
