We are seeking a Senior Accountant ready to grow into an Accounting Manager role or an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and provide strong business support for our California location. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a detail oriented who combines solid accounting expertise with the ability to support payroll, people-related processes, and cross-functional business operations. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable partnering with leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Lead core accounting functions, including month-end close, general ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Support or oversee payroll processing and related administrative functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Supervise and mentor staff, providing coaching, direction, and performance feedback to help develop a strong and accountable team
Partner with management to support employee-related matters such as performance management, annual reviews, engagement, retention, and disciplinary documentation
Analyze financial performance and operational trends to identify risks, improve processes, and help leadership make informed business decisions
Use Excel and other business systems to import, organize, reconcile, and interpret data from multiple sources
Collaborate with branch, regional, divisional, and corporate stakeholders to support ongoing projects, reporting needs, and operational initiatives
Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and critical deliverables stay on track
Assist with audit preparation and support, including gathering documentation and responding to internal or external audit requests
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
5+ years of accounting or finance experience, with progressive responsibility in financial operations
Strong understanding of financial statements, month-end close, general ledger activity, budgeting, forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations
Experience supporting or overseeing payroll processes and working in environments that may include accounting, payroll, or HR-related responsibilities
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets, manipulate data, and transfer information across systems
Highly computer-savvy with the ability to learn new platforms quickly and adapt to changing systems, processes, and business needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with leadership, employees, clients, and labor or union representatives
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
