Job Description

Software Resources, Inc. has an immediate job opportunity available for a SQL REPORT WRITER in Houston, TX. (US Citizens only). The SQL Report Writer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data reports and dashboards that support business decision-making. This role works closely with stakeholders to translate data requirements into accurate, efficient, and user-friendly reports using SQL and reporting tools.

Job Responsibility

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports using SQL-based reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, Crystal Reports)
  • Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from relational databases
  • Collaborate with business users and analysts to gather and document reporting requirements
  • Optimize queries and reports for performance, accuracy, and scalability
  • Validate data and ensure consistency across multiple data sources
  • Create and maintain documentation for reports, queries, and data definitions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data/reporting issues in a timely manner
  • Support ad hoc reporting requests and data analysis needs
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience writing SQL queries and developing reports
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (joins, subqueries, CTEs, stored procedures)
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or similar
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
  • Experience working with large datasets and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus
  • Experience in Agile or Scrum environments
