Software Resources, Inc. has an immediate job opportunity available for a SQL REPORT WRITER in Houston, TX. (US Citizens only). The SQL Report Writer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data reports and dashboards that support business decision-making. This role works closely with stakeholders to translate data requirements into accurate, efficient, and user-friendly reports using SQL and reporting tools.
Job Responsibility:
Design, develop, and maintain reports using SQL-based reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, Crystal Reports)
Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from relational databases
Collaborate with business users and analysts to gather and document reporting requirements
Optimize queries and reports for performance, accuracy, and scalability
Validate data and ensure consistency across multiple data sources
Create and maintain documentation for reports, queries, and data definitions
Troubleshoot and resolve data/reporting issues in a timely manner
Support ad hoc reporting requests and data analysis needs
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience writing SQL queries and developing reports
Strong proficiency in SQL (joins, subqueries, CTEs, stored procedures)
Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or similar
Understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have:
Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
Experience working with large datasets and performance tuning
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus
