Rotorua Lakes Council is looking for a Sports Field Specialist (Cricket) to help care for our parks, reserves, and sports fields so they remain safe, welcoming, and ready for everyone to enjoy.

Job Responsibility:

  • Day-to-day preparation and maintenance of cricket wickets and other sports turf areas
  • mowing
  • line marking
  • renovation work
  • fertilising
  • chemical application
  • general turf maintenance
  • preparing fields for scheduled sports games
  • operating ride‑on mowers, tractors, line markers, and other specialist turf‑care machinery
  • supporting wider grounds team with planting, weeding, pruning, and caring for public spaces
  • representing Council positively when interacting with the public
  • following health and safety procedures

Requirements:

  • Experience in turf or sports field maintenance
  • practical skills in equipment operation and general horticulture
  • certificate in Turf Management or Horticulture (advantage, equivalent experience considered)
  • full driver’s licence required
  • machinery or growsafe endorsements helpful
  • reliable
  • adaptable
  • strong team player
  • enjoys working outdoors
