Job Description

The Athletic Fields and Grounds Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, and hands-on maintenance of the town’s athletic fields, grounds, and related facilities to ensure safe, high-quality playing surfaces and well-maintained public properties. Oversees daily field operations including turf management, irrigation and drainage systems, field preparation, equipment maintenance, and grounds improvement projects. Supervises and trains staff, implements safety and regulatory compliance programs, assists with budget development and capital planning. The position also supports seasonal operations, including snow removal and other related duties as assigned. Performs all other related work as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, plant and soil science, sports management, or other related fields
  • five to seven years prior experience in high-level athletic field maintenance experience with supervisory experience, with three years supervisory experience
  • or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License
