We are seeking a Sports Coordinator to work full-time during school term times on a permanent basis commencing July 2026. Reporting to the Director of Sports and Clubs, the successful applicant will work with the school community to encourage student participation in sports, coordinate sporting events and assist with the overall development of sport.
Job Responsibility
To contribute to the sporting life of the school, and to encourage student participation and to inspire students to achieve their potential
Co-ordinate sporting events in conjunction with the Sports Coaches PE Staff and Director of Sports and Clubs
Liaising with PE staff re advertising of sports fixtures and sporting events
Maintaining records of student participation and successes
Developing archival information on sporting involvement
Coaching sport as required
Attendance at some Saturday and/or evening sports fixtures
Liaison with the College Sport Auckkland regarding Inter-College sporting activities
Attendance at sports code meetings as appropriate
Liaise and/or meet with coaches/managers on a regular basis
Co-ordinate team entries and payment of fees
Purchase, distribute and maintain sports equipment
Requirements
Strong passion for sport with the energy and initiative to coordinate and promote a comprehensive school sports programme
Proven experience coordinating sports fixtures, events, and inter-school competitions
Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including record‑keeping, team entries, and fee management
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with PE staff, coaches, students, parents, and external sporting bodies
Coaching experience, with expertise in one or multiple sports considered an advantage
Ability to manage sports equipment, including purchasing, distribution, and maintenance
Willingness to attend Saturday sports fixtures and participate in sports meetings as required
Eligibility to work in New Zealand (NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa)
Qualification in the field of sports management, coaching, recreation or fitness
Valid New Zealand drivers’ licence (preferable)
Prepared to undertake a New Zealand police check prior to commencing the position
A willingness to attend school sporting events outside regular hours as required (e.g., sport training, matches, performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.)
