Job Description

GSL Education are hiring an experienced Sports Coach (with SEMH experience) to work in a welcoming school in Birmingham, supporting students through structured physical activities in a nurturing and well-managed environment. As a Sports Coach, you will use sport as a positive tool to engage students, promote teamwork, and help them develop confidence, resilience, and self-regulation skills. Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver structured sports sessions tailored to students with SEMH needs
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and participation
  • Promote emotional regulation, teamwork, and respectful behaviour through sport
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support individual student plans

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Sports Coach with SEMH students is essential
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
