Provides speech therapy services to persons served.
Job Responsibility:
Reviews social history, psychological, medical, and previous therapy reports/records
Interviews individual/caregiver to discuss and establish needs
Administers appropriate tests and evaluates to determine functional level and potential
Communicates information to team participants and provides input for treatment plan development
Makes referral or recommendation for therapy and/or equipment
Develops treatment plan from evaluation results
Conducts individual and/or group sessions within clinic to work on specific objectives
Communicates program and program changes to team members for consistency and reinforcement throughout disciplines
Modifies treatment and equipment when necessary, in response to development and progress with present treatment
Completes paperwork and other documentation as required by the program, licensing agencies, and funding sources, e.g., progress notes, attendance records, flow sheets, etc
Utilizes appropriate methods to manage inappropriate behavior/responses
Counsels individual, parents and/or family members regarding treatment programs and home programming and follow-through
Provides in-service to staff regarding treatment materials and techniques
May supervise practicum students
Attends in-service education programs
Attends job related short courses, meetings, conventions, etc
Reads and researches professional journals and texts
While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulation pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas
Employee has access to all client protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer
Requirements:
Master's degree (M.S. or M. A.) in Speech-Language Pathology from four-year College or university required
Individuals within 90 days of completing their Master’s degree may be considered
Certification by state board as licensed Speech-Language Pathologist required
Individuals with a provisional state license or who will be eligible for a provisional license within 90 days may be considered in which case the provisional status must be removed from the license within 24 months of hire
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
