Atrium Health University City’s Women’s Services includes a specialized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) dedicated to providing advanced, family-centered care for premature and medically fragile newborns. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates to support optimal outcomes for infants and their families, offering comprehensive services that address feeding, swallowing, and early developmental needs. As part of this team, Speech-Language Pathologists play a vital role in assessing and treating feeding and communication challenges, ensuring individualized care plans that promote growth and development during this critical stage.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluates, plans, directs, and administers programs of Speech Language Pathology, upon referral by a physician
Plans and conducts SLP to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence
Directs and supervises activities of rehab technicians, speech-language pathology students and volunteers
Evaluates patients and establishes appropriate patient care plan
Gathers and interprets appropriate data from the medical record, physician reports, patient, and/or family
Re-evaluates patients as needed, modifying goals and treatment as patient's status changes
Communicates patient's evaluation and subsequent progress to physician, referral sources, and other clinical staff and coordinates patient's schedule, treatment programs, discharge planning and recommends solutions to patient care problems
This position will support NICU as well as Adult Acute Care patients
Requirements:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology program required
applicable state license for Speech Language Pathology required
BLS required per policy guidelines
NICU interest required
NICU experience preferred
