Provides services to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in children and/or adult population.
Job Responsibility:
Performs and interprets speech and language evaluations for patients with communicative disorders
Plans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results
Develops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients, including Plans of Care
Provides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s)
Maintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient
Communicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools
Works collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines
Conducts clinical teaching with medical students and undergraduate/graduate students
Provides education and in-services to hospital faculty and staff regarding speech and language, communication, and swallowing disorders
May identify potential research projects and assist with the design and implementation of clinical research and data collection activities
Requirements:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
1 year of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology in a health care setting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong team-based relationships
Flexibility and problem-solving skills
Eligibility for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire
New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire
Nice to have:
Experience in pediatric voice, feeding and swallowing disorders
