The Speech Language Pathologist-Assistant (SLP-A) is responsible for the delivery speech/language services to students receiving special education services in school environments and/or people living in community-based residential programs. The SLP-A must collaborate with a supervising SLP, teachers, parents, caregivers, and other professionals to understand the strengths, interests, and needs of the individual, develop, implement, and monitor relevant treatment plans.
Job Responsibility:
Propose relevant IEP, IHP, ISP goals to participants' interdisciplinary teams and work throughout the year to help them achieve their goals
Collect and summarize data on participants’ progress, and draft progress reports as dictated by the funder
Work closely with other professionals such as psychologists, behavior analysts, and mental health therapists
Support participants’ use of high, and low-tech AAC systems
Serve as a resource for SETT evaluators
Requirements:
Current and unrestricted SLP-A license to practice in the state of practice
Department of Education licensure or certification as required by state
Experience working with people with special needs such as autism and intellectual disabilities
Demonstrated proficiency in documentation and compliance with ethical standards
Additional clearances or certifications as required by state and/or funder (e.g., First Aid/CPR certification, TB test, Mandated Reporter training, Child Abuse Clearances, FBI background checks, state police background checks, etc.)
Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
