Job Description:

Specialty Pharmacist - 18-mo Contract - Specialty Compounding - Burnaby, BC - Healthcare. Are you a Licensed Pharmacist looking to work in a unique setting, gain training and experience in sterile compounding? In this role, you would work a 30-hour work week (28 paid hours per week) - working every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and either Wednesdays or Thursdays (set day) from 8am - 4pm (with a 1 hour break - 30 mins paid, 30 mins unpaid)? There is an on-call rotation (every ~3 weeks) to support phone calls that may come in after hours - on-call is shared between all pharmacists. Start date is ASAP offering, crossover time for training for the new hire. Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the daily preparation and dispensing of medications to ensure full compliance with federal and provincial pharmacy regulations
  • Provide clinical oversight by performing patient counseling, maintaining detailed documentation, and ensuring high standards of pharmaceutical care
  • Lead and prioritize the production workflow, using professional judgment and standard operating procedures to meet critical patient needs
  • Supervise technical staff and coordinate pharmacy tasks with the distribution and order entry teams
  • Perform and validate quality assurance procedures to ensure all products meet corporate and professional accuracy standards
  • Support production activities, including compounding, when required by workload or emergency after-hours needs
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify orders and resolve pharmacy service issues
  • Participate in clinical and quality improvement initiatives to enhance facility operations and equipment use

Requirements:

  • University degree in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Pharm or PharmD)
  • Active license to practice pharmacy in British Columbia (BC College of Pharmacists)
  • Minimum of two years of recent hands-on clinical or homecare experience (any setting)
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation (approximately every 3 weeks)
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience with Kroll pharmacy software preferred
  • Experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred
  • Previous experience with IV compounding or infusion therapy preferred
  • Certification to administer injections preferred
