The Specialty Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates specialty expertise in clinical nursing and a passion for ongoing support and development for clinical associates. The Specialty Educator assumes accountability and responsibility for provision of professional development to positively influence the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care in the area of their specialty.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, implement, and evaluate a program of education for their specialty (med surg)
Coordinate orientation with facility departments in specialty area
Manage ongoing staff competency and continued education at the unit and/or facility level
Apply policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to their populations
Collaborate with Clinical Specialists, Facility-based educators, and providers to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care
Work closely with the Clinical Specialist to align with annual specialty education initiatives, specialty orientation and other region initiatives
May be required to deploy to sites based on initiatives or programs as needed.
Requirements:
Three years of experience in nursing is required
Two years of experience in the designated specialty (med surg) is required
A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN), required
Current RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required
Nursing Specialty Certification required: Sit within 6 months
achieve within 1year of hire or transfer to the role.
